Our Mission and Vision
A future where safe, high-quality anaesthesia care is accessible to all in Namibia.
Guided by our constitution and the evolving needs of healthcare in Namibia, ASN strives to:
- Champion excellence in anaesthesia education and training
- Uphold the highest standards of patient safety
- Represent and advocate for all anaesthesia providers
- Guide the future of anaesthesia practice and training
- Enhance visibility and awareness of the anaesthesiology profession
Through these pillars, we aim to build a sustainable environment where anaesthesia providers can thrive, innovate, and deliver optimal care
About the Anaesthesiologists Society of Namibia (ASN)
The Anaesthesiologists Society of Namibia (ASN) is the national professional voice and collective home for anaesthesia providers, dedicated to advancing anaesthesia education, safety and practice in Namibia. We exist to unite providers across the country, strengthen our profession, and support the delivery of safe, high-quality peri-operative and critical care services for all Namibians.
ASN brings together a diverse community committed to excellence in patient care and lifelong learning. Our membership includes specialist anaesthesiologists, general practitioners, medical officers in the state sector, registrars, and anaesthetic nurses — reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of anaesthesia practice in Namibia. As a society, we provide a platform for collaboration, professional representation, advocacy, and the exchange of ideas that shape the future of anaesthesia services nationally.

What We Do
ASN actively supports continuing professional development, scientific engagement, advocacy, and national collaboration. Our activities include skills-based workshops, airway and regional anaesthesia training, World Anaesthesia Day commemorations, and monthly joint academic meetings that bring together state and private sector practitioners. We collaborate with trade and pharmaceutical partners to introduce emerging technologies and new developments in anaesthesia practice, ensuring our members remain at the forefront of modern care.
Beyond education, ASN advocates for the professional interests and wellbeing of anaesthesia providers, engaging with stakeholders such as medical aid funds and healthcare partners. We promote public awareness through community outreach and radio discussions, celebrate the achievements of our members, and foster a culture that values teamwork, innovation, and professional growth.

We are also proud to be expanding our reach with the upcoming launch of a student membership category, creating opportunities for medical students to engage with anaesthesiology through on-campus activities, mentorship, and educational initiatives designed to inspire the next generation of providers.
Looking Ahead
An exciting milestone on our calendar is the upcoming joint scientific congress — a landmark gathering that will bring together national and international faculty, multidisciplinary professionals, and emerging leaders in anaesthesia and peri-operative medicine. The congress reflects ASN’s commitment to knowledge sharing, collaboration, and advancing clinical excellence within Namibia and beyond.
As we launch our new website, we invite you to explore our work, connect with our community, and join us in shaping the future of anaesthesia — advancing education, safety and practice in Namibia.
