Dr Kavari is a trained cardiothoracic anaesthetist who recently completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic anaesthesia at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust in the United Kingdom. He holds an FCA from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa and an MMed in Anaesthesiology from Stellenbosch University.
He has extensive experience in Namibia’s public health sector, particularly in the Kunene region, and has a strong interest in perioperative medicine, high-risk patient care, and healthcare systems.
Dr Kavari is passionate about education, quality improvement, and postgraduate training in Namibia. He is currently completing an MSc in Cardiology with the University of Buckingham.

Dr. Juanita Naobeb, a proud daughter of the Namibian soil, has dedicated over 14 years to the practice of anaesthesia. She began her academic journey at the University of Pretoria in South Africa, where she completed her MCHCB. She then pursued a Master’s degree in Medicine at the University of Cape Town, followed by a Fellowship in Anaesthesia with the College of Medicine of South Africa. Her professional achievements include being one of the Founding Fellows of the College of Anaesthesiologists of East, Central and Southern Africa (CANECSA) in Namibia. Dr. Naobeb is deeply committed to advancing patient safety and advocating for higher standards within the healthcare system. Beyond her medical career, she is actively involved in her church and community, where she contributes to various uplifting initiatives. Her life reflects a balance of professional excellence, faith, and service to others.

Dr. Loini Talishi Shivolo-Hamutu is a Namibian anaesthesiologist originating from the northern region of the country. She is among the pioneering graduates of the MMed in Anaesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Management from the University of Namibia, having completed the program in October 2022. She is also a foundation fellow and serves as the country representative for the College of Anaesthesiologists of East, Central and Southern Africa. She currently holds the position of Head of Department for Anaesthesia and Critical Care at Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital and is an adjunct lecturer at the University of Namibia. Dr. Shivolo-Hamutu has a strong professional interest in critical care and simulation-based training. She is actively engaged in advancing the decentralization of healthcare services, particularly by strengthening the delivery of safe anaesthesia care at district hospitals across Namibia. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends and has a keen interest in travelling the World.

Dr Sudene Vorster was born and raised on the beautiful coast of Namibia. She completed her undergraduate, and, very recently, Anaesthesiology postgraduate studies at the University of Namibia (UNAM) and is currently working in the department of Anaesthesiology at Windhoek Hospital Complex. Passionate about teaching, Sudene enjoys sharing knowledge with her peers. Outside of medicine, she loves chasing sunsets with her husband or enjoying a good plate of pasta in the comfort of their home which they share with their two beloved Maine Coons.

Mrs Reid has worked in healthcare for more than 40 years, first as a radiographer and ending up in healthcare informatics. She has worked in South Africa and the Middle East in both government and private practice. She volunteered to assist the fledgling ASN as an administrative assistant in 2019. She has a good understanding of anesthesia matters, having been married to a anaesthesiologist for 29 years.

Dr. Jesse M. Mumba is consultant specialist anaesthetist with special interest in cardiothoracic, neuro and geriatric anaesthesia. He is also a honorary lecturer at the University of Namibia where is fulfils his passion for knowledge transfer to registrars and medical students alike. Having trained in different jurisdictions, Dr Mumba is a product of diverse education systems, from his undergraduate studies in Russia, student electives in the UK, internship in Zambia at the University Teaching Hospital to his postgraduate studies at the University of Cape Town. Outside of the professional sphere, Dr Jesse Mumba enjoys spending time with his family and friends from different cultures and backgrounds. Hobbies including playing on stringed musical instruments, his favourite being the acoustic guitar.

Dr. Shivera is the Medical Superintendent of Intermediate Hospital Rundu in Namibia. She earned her MBChB in 2006and FCA in 2016 from UCT, South Africa. Thereafter, she worked as a specialist anaesthetist at a public tertiary hospital in Namibia. In 2017 she was awarded the Commonwealth Professional Fellowship which inspired the founding of the Anaesthesiologists Society of Namibia. Passionate about global surgery and patient safety, she serves on various committees such as Namibian Medical & Dental Council, SADC TEWG on Surgical Care and SOAICAF (Society of African Obstetric Anaesthetists) . She is a mother of two toddlers who practices yin yoga.

Anaesthetic Nurse Representative Ms Natanael is an anaesthetic nurse working at The Intermediate Hospital Katutura, with a certificate in Enrolled Nurse and a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. With more than ten years of experience, she is passionate and love her job and has interest in emergency and Critical care medicine.

Dr Chris Terblanche is an anaesthetist and intensivist working at Intermediate hospital Oshakati. Originally from South Africa, he did his postgraduate training in the UK and worked as a consultant there for over 13 years before returning to Southern Africa. He is a part time Senior Lecturer with the University of Namibia and Honorary Senior lecturer with Cardiff University with a passion for teaching. He breeds poultry, bakes sourdough pizza and has been spotted riding to Windhoek on a F700GS.
